Vegas is the most amazing city. It's never boring! Of course sometimes it's never boring in the same way that my college boyfriend was never boring; spontaneous, sexy, with a long criminal record.
What do you do when you get everything you want? The response to our production of The Little Dog Laughed has been amazing. Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that this production would have struck such a resounding note throughout our community.
Yes, the script is amazing, it’s the reason that I was so passionate to produce this show. The actors are wonderful - I knew this from their first audition when my excitement for the show began to bubble over. But the most surprising “it” factor for this production has been you – our wonderful audiences.
Every night you teach me new ways to appreciate this show. Every night someone laughs at something new, something I had forgotten, or something I had been hoping that you would discover.
I have taken on a disturbing double life. By evening, I am a creative, enthusiastic director but by the harsh light of day I become Scrooge McDuck.
Our show has opened! Les, Barbara, and I can now only sit back and watch the magic unfold before us. That is, of course, in between scene changes, light cues, and projection operation since all three of us are teching. We are completely exausted and completely proud. Go see us at the Winchester, you'll have a great time.
By way of a little teaser for the show I have included my directors notes below. Enjoy!
We have had some exceptional auditions for Same Time, Next Year. For the proud few that audition well - it shows. They exude confidence, present themselves professionally, and usually perform at optimal levels. The thing that always amazes me is that so many people seem to think that these auditioning golden children have some secret formula. But a good audition has absolutely nothing to do with luck or talent and everything to do with preparation and practice.
